Surrogacy has been legal in Georgia since 1977. Surrogacy laws in Georgia state that only heterosexual married couples are permitted to have a child through surrogacy. In Georgia, this prohibits gay and single people from having a child through surrogacy. Nonetheless, extracorporeal fertilization is permitted under Republic of Georgia Article 143.
